Support Your Daughter

SUBS ! Why do we have them, what are they for??

To allow us to provide a wide range of fun & interesting activities, we need to find a way of funding - this is why we have Subs.

We charge just £12 a term, and hope you will support us by paying promptly. Unfortunately we cannot run many activities without some money, so if your subs haven't been paid by the 4th week of term, then your daughter may lose her place at Brownies.

Just to give you a bit of background information, each year we have to pay a 'Census' to Girlguiding UK of approx £12 per girl. This covers Girlguiding membership benefits & insurance. which only leaves around £600 a year (or just under a £1 a week per girl) to fund the unit.

This is why it is so important to get money in on time so that we can sort out our budget for the forthcoming term.

Thank you for helping us by paying promptly!

We try & pack in a lot each week & you can help us by making sure your daughter is here by 6.15pm & raring to go! We can then get through all our activities without holding up the start of the Guides meeting at 7.30pm.

We occasionally have spare uniform to sell, if you are interested in any, or if you would like to donate some outgrown items, please ask one of the leaders to see what is available. All we ask for is a small donation to unit funds.

We are full at the moment, however, if you would like to put your daughters name on our waiting list - see 'contact us'. Although our first available spaces are April/September 2011 . If your daughter is under 7, you may wish to put her name down for Rainbows at Hallam, as priority is given to Rainbows moving up from the linked unit.

With so many girls on the waiting list, we hope to see some commitment from those girls who are at Brownies. If your daughter does not attend for 3 weeks in a row without advice to us, then her place may be offered to someone else. PLEASE PLEASE let us know if your daughter doesn't need their place anymore, as we are literally turning people away at the moment...

  Remember!

...to make sure your daughter has suitable clothing, waterproofs & wellies if necessary , when we're meeting away from the church hall - bad weather will not stop us going outside! & please also check she has a drink in an unbreakable container - it can be thirsty work being a Brownie!

OAC PARKING

You have all been given a letter explaining the new arrangements for dropping off & collecting at the OAC, please ensure you are familiar with the new arrangements to ensure that everyone using the site is kept safe.

Girlguiding UK encourages you to support your daughter's involvement in Brownies so she can get the most from the experience. You will be asked to:
  • Deliver and collect your daughter at the appropriate times. Your Leader will let you know in advance of any changes to the normal time and place.
  • Make sure your daughter wears suitable clothing and footwear for activities. Your Leader will let you know in advance of any particular requirements for an activity. For most things your daughter does, her normal Brownie wear will be fine.
  • Return forms and payments on time.
  • Inform your Leader of any additional needs your daughter may have and any medication she requires, eg inhaler. Please remember to tell the Leader of any changes to these. All information will be treated in confidence.

Any confidential information will be used sensitively to ensure your daughter gains the maximum enjoyment and benefit from being a Brownie.
